Santa Claus left some software patches for me
I’ve been out of town for a few days, spending quality time with my parents during Christmas. All I did was to wander around in pajamas, eat all day long and zap/watch TV. Only checked e-mail once, and by that I mean logging in to see if people didn’t fill my 20 MB inbox with file attachments, then logging out. It was good.
A few hours ago I have returned to my “home” — the appartment where I’ve been living for the past 1 1/2 years and will probably live for another 2, to discover that in the mean time nerdy bozos had nothing better to do than write worms to automatically attack/infect/deface any kind of php-based site, such as this blog. My cousin left a link to a discussion about problems experienced by other WordPress users because of these worms.
What surprised me is that the authors of WordPress found time to put away the turkey and presents to release a patched version of this open-source project. It only took me a few minutes to update mine to 1.2.2 and redo all necessary customizations. What else can I say other than a heartfelt Thank You? This is the nicest present for thousands and thousands of delighted users our there.
Merry Holidays, everyone.
